INVITATION FOR BIDS – Supply, Installation and Management of a 5G Testbed facility

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has allocated funds to implement a sustainable innovation testbed on emerging and future technologies. The innovation testbed is envisaged to provide physical facilities, usable data, and relevant services for ICT related research, innovation, and education while providing a cooperation-friendly environment that facilitates collaboration and test preparedness between the private, public, and academia in advancing the same.

The intended testbed shall be for several emerging and future technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Machine to Machine (M2M) Communications, 3D Printing applications, Robotics, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and 5G Verticals and applications.

The Uganda Communications Commission invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Supply, Installation and Management of a 5 G testbed facility to be located at UICT, Nakawa in Kampala

Bidding will be conducted in accordance with the Open Domestic Bidding, a procedure contained in the Government of Uganda’s Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act, 2003, and is open to all bidders.

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) was established under the legal framework of the Uganda Communications Act No. 1 of 1997 and the Electronic Media Act of 1996. Consequently, UCC operates as an integrated regulatory body overseeing various sectors, including Telecommunications, Data Communications, Broadcasting, Postal Communication, Radio Communication, and Infrastructure services throughout Uganda. It is also tasked with the responsibility of licensing operations of cinematography theatres and video or film libraries in Uganda.
