DON’T BE CONNED!

It has come to the attention of the Uganda Communications Commission (the Commission) that some unscrupulous individuals are purporting to offer a variety of services to unsuspecting members of the public on behalf of the Commission.

The services these suspected conmen claim to offer include SIM card registration and attending to mobile money-related matters, among others.

Kindly take note that the Commission doesn’t offer those services.

Where the Commission provides services directly to the public, staff are instructed to clearly identify themselves and carry letters of introduction, IDs and or badges.

Members of the public who are approached by suspicious persons purporting to work for UCC are advised to call the toll free number 0800 222 777 or visit our website www.ucc.co.ug which has detailed information on how our services can be accessed.

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) was established under the legal framework of the Uganda Communications Act No. 1 of 1997 and the Electronic Media Act of 1996. Consequently, UCC operates as an integrated regulatory body overseeing various sectors, including Telecommunications, Data Communications, Broadcasting, Postal Communication, Radio Communication, and Infrastructure services throughout Uganda. It is also tasked with the responsibility of licensing operations of cinematography theatres and video or film libraries in Uganda.
