The Global Symposium for Regulators has become the unmissable annual event, for the global regulatory community that brings together heads of national telecom/ICT regulatory authorities from around the world and has since 2000 earned a reputation as the global annual venue for regulators to share their views and experiences on the most pressing regulatory issues they have identified.

The Uganda Communications Commission is using this unique gathering for regulators and ICT stakeholders to engage, share views and experiences and learn from others on topical regulatory matter.

Mr Godfrey Mutabazi the Executive Director – UCC shares the Commission’s experience on how the new position of ICTs and their diffusion to other sectors has heightened a need for collaboration with other sectoral regulators including the difficult challenges faced and how to overcome them.

ICT regulators play a vital role usually behind the scenes in enabling the growth and development of the ICT environment. Regulators ensure fair market practices, fair conditions for service providers and most importantly fair prices for consumers. Now that technology is critical in the attainment of the 17 Global UN Sustainable Development Goals, it is a critical time for ICT regulation and all regulators from the smallest to the largest markets can benefit from international dialogue and exchange.
