1. The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) handed over Five specialised state of the art laboratory facilities as part of the support and redevelopment of the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) into a regional centre of excellence in ICT training. 2. UCC supported and participated in representing the country at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2019 a UN multistakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 3. UCC has provided School computer Labs in Koboko (Millenium College Secondary school) and Adjumani (Beeza Al Hijji Secondary School) in collaboration with the area MPs. The support is provided under the Rural Communications Development Fund (RCDF), and Director RCDF represented the Executive Director at the launch. More here http://bit.ly/2KzJEPn;
4. The Commission was represented at the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI). The event focuses on connecting Members and Affiliates with high-level industry decision makers. Partnering with leaders in the Entertainment and Production industries, to ensure attendees have opportunities for networking and lead generation. The team discussed upcoming projects and used the opportunity to promote the Country as a filming destination to big producers, e.g. YouTube, Netflix, Facebook etc
5. The Commission participated in the NAB Trade Show – “The World’s Largest Digital Media & Entertainment Event” in Las Vegas. The NAB Show has exclusive displays of advanced devices and gadgets, cameras, lenses, capture accessories, motion capture devices, lighting and grip devices, workflow solutions, antennas, transmitters and towers, satellite technologies, interactive television, management and systems services, outdoor media, media, post-production hardware and software products and much more.
6. The Commission participated in the week-long technical training of the Human rights recommendation database. The online tool is aimed at improving the reporting of human rights incidents and aid MDAs in monitoring and assessing of government compliance with human rights recommendations from regional and international treaties.
7. The Commission and Uganda Post Limited were part of a delegation representing the country at the Universal Postal Union – Council of Administration discussing the future of the UPU pay system. The UPU is a specialised agency of the United Nations founded in 1874. It is one of the oldest international organisations in the world and is the main forum for cooperation between postal sector stakeholders.
